The standard classified the data center market into two camps
On September 1, 2022, the data center classification standard developed by the Association of Data Center Industry Participants will come into force. The new standard has divided the data center market into two camps. Some complain that no one asked their opinion when the document was developed, and the GOST itself has no practical application. Others positively assess the attempt to systematize the market.

"There is an urgent need not only to discuss the GOST, but to urgently recall and cancel it as a current document regulating the industry, as questions have begun to arise from clients and designers regarding compliance with these standards. It definitely needs to be revised, and given the number of comments on literally every point, it is easier to issue a new one. It is impossible to build and launch a high-class data center using the provisions of this document," said Taras Chirkov, Director of Operations for Linx Datacenter Data Centers (controlled by the ER-Telecom Group). He added that ANO KS TsOD has its own model for classifying data centers (published on the website of this organization), which could become an alternative to GOST.
