Nikolay Kudryashov said that in the first 40 years MEPhI had a wonderful rule: "In the first and second years, all students, regardless of faculty, studied mathematics and physics practically according to a single program and, in essence, received a single basic education in all specialties. Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Informatics and Information Security at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Natalia Seredenko believes that the applied IT specialties that exist today are relevant for a limited time, while the vision that the specialty "Applied Mathematics" lays down will be relevant in 20 and 50 years: "I graduated from this specialty myself and remember the high-level mathematical entities that were laid down in the foundation, and I understand that the material that I learned then allows me to understand almost any applied field. Accordingly, the basic education for an IT specialty should be mathematical."
