An innovative method of paying for travel in the mobile application "Udmurtia Transport" has been scaled up to a third of the Izhevsk bus fleet. The new technology allows passengers to pay for travel contactlessly from any convenient place in the cabin with one click.

Transport mobile application is being implemented by the payment system operator TIS LLC together with the digital services developer Datapax.
"Izhevsk residents have access to two fast and convenient payment methods in the Udmurtia Transport app. You can scan a QR code inside the bus with your smartphone camera or, by turning on Bluetooth and geolocation, pay for the trip following the instructions. After payment, the app will generate an electronic ticket that must be presented at the controller's request. The boarding time for public transport with this payment method is reduced by 30%," said Maxim Isaev, Deputy General Director of Datapax.
"It is important to note that the launch of the Udmurtia Transport mobile application has received a positive assessment, both directly from passengers and from members of the Government of the Udmurt Republic. This means that by launching contactless payment and information services on transport movement in the mobile application, we have definitely satisfied the request of our passengers.
In addition, we are currently receiving requests from passengers in other cities of the Udmurt Republic to include their city carriers in the Udmurtia Transport application and to implement contactless payment and information services. The Udmurtia Transport mobile application is based on the digital mobility management platform used by the largest carrier in Udmurtia, IPOPAT JSC, on all bus routes. The service allows passengers to save up to 10% of travel time by planning their trip in the application, where they can build a route, find out the schedule, get information about the location of the transport, the forecast of arrival at the desired stop and pay for travel in a modern contactless way. This digital solution improves the quality of public transport, making it more predictable and convenient.
Let us recall that at the beginning of 2023, contactless payment was successfully tested on bus routes No. 8 and No. 79. After that, the service was introduced on other conductorless routes serviced by IPOPAT JSC. By the end of the year, mobile payment for travel is also planned to be launched on the city electric transport of the capital of Udmurtia. By the end of the year, the passenger information service and mobile payment will be available on tram and trolleybus routes.
